Spin spin spin

As you can see from the title, my workouts shifted drastically this week. Instead of run run run, it was spin spin spin.

Mon- spinning. The owner led the class and played country music. So not my jam but I was happy to get in a good sweat. I forgot how much I enjoyed spinning this summer.

Tues- spinning. clearly I didn’t hate it since I went again in the middle of a snowstorm. The owner called me that morning to tell me he was canceling class then called back 5 minutes later to say someone else had signed up as well so he would have it for the two of us. Awesome.

Wed- OFF (DC commute). I was going to rush to spinning or yoga but the traffic was horrendous and I didn’t feel like scarfing down my dinner. Not to mention I was running on fumes from lack of sleep.

Thurs- OFF (DC Commuting)

Fri- Spinning and running! The owner of the studio recommended this class to me. It was taught by a guy who is a serious cyclist and is geared towards endurance athletes. I enjoyed it despite the 5:30am alarm, and then headed out for a long run, my first one since the race Sunday. I may have overdone it because by the last mile, my foot pain had returned. No bueno.

Sat- Running! I ran the Celtic Solstice 5 miler. I got to see Lauren and a few people I work with while I was there and the foot pain wasn’t too bad because the cold weather numbed it. Recap to come!

Sun- Yoga and spinning or running. I’m not sure what I’m going to do today. I’ll either spin or run depending on how my foot feels when I wake up and I’d like to get in a yoga class before I go home since I don’t like any of the studios in NH.

The most surprising part of this week was that I didn’t miss runningI thought I would because it was finals week but I was 100% okay without it. I thought a lot about how far I’ve come in the past 2 months of injury-free running. Running longer 4-5 days a week instead of 6-7 had made all the difference in my times and I do plan to keep it that way through the winter with the addition of classes to work other muscles that are lacking.

There’s no better time for me to be “injured” (if that’s even what this is) than right now. Starting Wednesday, I will have full access to a gym with every class I could ever dream of taking including 3 days a week of ZUMBA which we all know is my favorite. Spin, zumba, body pump, yoga, barre, and more are going to become very familiar to me over the coming weeks.

Are there any odd gym classes I should look out for this break?

Favorite workout of your week?
